Please be aware of the recent unauthorized use of Summit Community Bank’s (“Summit”) service marks, trademarks, company name, addresses, employee names, and logos (collectively, “Summit Intellectual Property”).
Individuals have attempted to defraud persons and the public at large through the unauthorized and illegal use of Summit Intellectual Property on one or more websites falsely claiming to be Summit. These efforts have been focused, at least in part, on persons located outside of the United States. These individuals have sought or obtained money, confidential information, or both from unsuspecting parties by attempting to appear legitimate.
Summit is a community bank that operates 29 branch offices in West Virginia and Virginia. Summit does not solicit or accept deposits or payments of money from individuals or organizations located outside of the United States. Nor does Summit solicit or accept loan applications from individuals or organizations located outside of the United States.
Summit will never ask its customers to transfer money to it using MoneyGram, Western Union, or any other third-party money transfer service. Nor will Summit ever ask its customers for their bank account numbers or bank routing numbers by email.
